How To Confidently Say “Yes” To The Dress

by | Nov 5, 2021

Wedding dress shopping can certainly be overwhelming. If you are an indecisive person, you might be super worried about going into your dress shopping appointment! We definitely understand — we’ve been there! Today, we’re going through some of our top tips on how to feel confident in saying “yes” to the dress.

TIPS FOR CONFIDENTLY SAYING “YES” TO THE DRESS

Here are our top tips to help you feel confident in saying “yes” to the dress!

Bring your closest loved ones

It’s so important to bring a small group of your closest family/friends with you to your appointment! However, it’s important to bring the right people.

For starters, we suggest limiting the amount of guests that you bring with you to two or three, if possible. Too many opinions can be super overwhelming!

It’s also important to only bring people who you love and trust with you. They should have positive attitudes and fully support you!

Some people that you might consider bringing with you include mom, future mother-in-law, grandmother, dad, brother, sister, best friend, cousin, and more! Obviously, tradition dictates that you do not bring your fiance, but some people choose to. It’s completely up to you!

Feel your best

This could mean a number of things, but you want to feel your best during your appointment! If this means that you wear some makeup and have your hair done, so be it. Just keep in mind that some bridal shops may have rules about not wearing makeup, so be sure that you check first!

Another tip that we have for feeling your best — make sure that you eat before your appointment! Sometimes, brides skip breakfast so they can “feel skinny” while trying on dresses. Please don’t do that! Trying on dresses is more work than you think. They are heavy, and getting in and out of each one takes a lot out of you! You will also be mentally and emotionally exhausted by the end of it. Please, come to your appointment hydrated and nourished! If anything, you can eat something small beforehand and celebrate after your appointment by going out to lunch!

Stick to a budget

It’s important to figure out your dress budget before you start dress shopping. This will keep you from trying on dresses that are out of your price range.

Here at K&B, we will never show you a dress that is outside of your price range (unless you specifically ask us to). This will keep you from falling in love with a dress that you aren’t able to buy!

Keep in mind that alterations and accessories will be an additional cost, so factor those into your budget, too.

Don’t overbook yourself

Some brides love the idea of having a Saturday filled with a day of dress shopping with their bridesmaids. We really don’t suggest this, for a few different reasons!

For starters — dress shopping takes a lot out of you. Most brides are worn out after just one appointment, let alone three or four. If you really want to do back-to-back appointments, we definitely do not suggest having more than two in a row.

Also, you are going to get overwhelmed and confused when you start trying on too many dresses. Let’s say that you fall in love with a dress at your first appointment, but you want to go to the other three appointments that you already booked. Well eventually, you’re going to forget what the dresses at your first appointment even looked like. You’ll get super confused.

Limit the number of gowns you try on

This kind of goes along with our last point, but don’t try on too many dresses. Again, you will just get confused and overwhelmed! We typically have our brides try on less than 10 dresses during her appointment, but this can vary depending on the bride.

Be ready to say “yes”

Come to your appointment with the idea that you are going to say “yes” to the dress. This limits any hesitation that you might have when you fall in love with a dress.

Of course, we don’t want you to be disappointed if you don’t find your dress at your first appointment. But being prepared to say “yes” helps to put you in the right mindset!

Take pictures

Are you a visual person? If so, have one of your guests take a picture of the front and back of each dress that you try on. This way, later on when you are trying to narrow down your decision, you can sit down and look through the photos without having to try on each one again!

Try something outside of your comfort zone

Finally, our final tip is to try on a dress that is completely out of your comfort zone. This way, you can feel fully confident to say “yes” to the dress without feeling like you’re missing out on anything!

Besides, you would be surprised at how many brides walk in with one vision of their dress, and end up buying a dress that is the complete opposite! You never know until you try.
