How To Accessorize Your Wedding Dress

by | Mar 29, 2021

You have your wedding dress… now what? It’s time to think about accessories! There are so many bridal accessories to choose from… but that doesn’t mean that you need to buy all of them! We’re going to go through what to consider when thinking about each accessory so that you can decide which ones that you want for your big day.

ACCESSORIES TO CONSIDER

Here are some things to consider when figuring our accessories for your wedding day.

Jewelry

There are so many jewelry options when it comes to your wedding day! There are necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. And of course, you can’t forget your engagement ring and wedding band! There are a lot of different things to consider when you’re thinking about what jewelry to wear on your wedding day.

First, what does your neckline look like? If you have an open neckline, then you may want to consider wearing a necklace.

If your neckline is more simple, you might consider a statement necklace. If you have more of an ornate neckline on your dress, then you might choose a dainty neckline to balance things out.

Alternatively, if you have a dress with a high neck, you may want to skip the necklace altogether! In this case, you could choose to wear a bracelet, like a cuff, instead.

Another thing to think about when considering jewelry is, does your dress have sleeves? If so, you will probably want to wear minimal jewelry so that you don’t overdo it! Remember that the focus of your bridal look is you, not your accessories.

Veil or headpiece?

Many people consider a veil to be the key to a bridal look. However, nowadays, many brides choose not to wear one! A lot of brides are choosing to forego a veil altogether and choose a headband, hair comb, or tiara instead!

No matter what, we highly recommend trying on a veil with your dress during your appointment. This will help you make your final decision. Maybe you’ll fall in love with it and decide that you need a veil on your wedding day! At the very least, you may decide that it’s not for you, but at least you won’t be left wondering “what if?”

Belt or sash

If you feel like your dress is missing some of the glitz & glam factor that you’re craving, then adding a belt is perfect for that!

Shawl or jacket

If you’re getting married in a colder month or area, then you will probably want some sort of cover-up to help keep you warm! Even if you’re getting married in warmer weather, you may still choose to wear one… but you’ll probably want it to have lightweight fabric.

Your cover-up can vary from a shawl to a leather jacket to a jean jacket to a wrap. The possibilities are endless!

One of our favorite cover-up choices is a personalized leather jacket or jean jacket. You can order these with your new last name on the back, some lace, some beading, or some pearls. The best part? You’ll get to wear it long after your wedding day! We recommend searching for these on Etsy.

Shoes

Although most people won’t even see your feet on your wedding day, shoes are still important to many brides! Our biggest tip? Make sure they are comfortable.

If heels are a must for you, we really recommend choosing a low heel or just ones that are comfortable. Break them in before your wedding day by wearing them around the house, too! We would also recommend finding a pair of flats to change into for the reception, especially if you’ll be dancing throughout the night.

The possibilities are really endless for your bridal shoes. You can wear heels, flats, sandals, blinged-out sneakers (Converse or Keds), or even go barefoot for a beach wedding!
