Figuring out the bride's wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of the wedding planning process, and often one of the first things that gets checked off your to-do list. The groom's attire can often be forgotten about until closer to the wedding date, but it is definitely something that is super important to figure out early on! The groom's attire will be in your wedding photos forever, and you want everyone's attire to coordinate well together. Today, we're going to give you some tips on how to figure out the groom's attire for your wedding day!

Things to Consider When Choosing the Groom's Attire

Here are some things to keep in mind when you're choosing the groom's, groomsmen, and fathers' attire!

What's your wedding's theme?

One thing that you'll want to consider when choosing your groom's and groomsmen's attire is the theme of your wedding. Is it more elegant or casual? Is it a beach wedding? Are you having a whimsical, boho wedding? All of these will likely have your guys wearing something different!

Coordinate with the bride

You will of course want the groom's outfit to coordinate with the bride's! Because the groom probably has no idea what your dress looks like, you will most likely want to be involved in choosing their attire to make sure that everything will look good together.

A lot of wedding dresses are not pure white. They can be champagne, ivory, blush, etc. Because of this, you will want to make sure that the groom isn't wearing a color that clashes with the bride's dress. If the bride is wearing an ivory dress, and you have the groom in a white shirt and/or accessories, then it will be noticeable in pictures, and you definitely don't want that!

When are you getting married?

You'll also want to consider the time of year that you're getting married when you're figuring out the groom's attire. If you're having a beach or summer wedding, you'll probably want to choose something fairly lightweight — maybe even completely foregoing a jacket. For winter weddings, you could choose a wool suit and darker colors. The season of your wedding is a huge deciding factor when it comes to attire!

Choosing a suit vs. a tux

One of the first choices that you'll have to make is whether you want to go with a suit or a tux. Typically, if you're going for a very formal look, like if you're having a black tie affair, then you will go with a tux.

Here at K&B Bridals, we offer both options, so you'll be able to choose which one to go with during your styling appointment!

The K&B Bridals Tuxedo Process

The first step to getting your tuxedos/suits here at K&B is to schedule a Tux Styling Appointment. This will be a 30-minute to hour long appointment where you will sit down together with one of our tuxedo experts to choose all of the men's attires for your wedding. This includes the groom, groomsmen, junior groomsmen/ring bearers, and fathers! You'll go through everything, including colors, style of tux or suit, shoes, shirts ties, and more. Typically, both newlyweds will attend this, and occasionally parents.

After that, you will have each of the men in the wedding party make an appointment to come in and get measured before the wedding. If you have any guys who live out of state, no worries! They can go to a reputable formalwear store that is close to them to get measured and give us a call with all of their measurements.

All of the pieces that you choose will arrive to you about a week before the wedding. They will either be sent to our shop or directly to each of the guy's locations — this is something that you will figure out during your styling or measuring appointments. If anything doesn't fit, no worries! We are able to order replacement pieces that will be sent overnight to you.
